Fore the Ladies Finds: January 2025

Writer's picture: Abby LiebenthalAbby Liebenthal

Hi all!

Do you see it? It's your blank scorecard for the year. No one can care what you've shot or focus on your handicap index yet. You get to decide how you want this year of golf to go. Maybe it's a year of all fun or you really want to compete in your club championship. Whatever it may be, I hope FTL can be a part of it!

My goal in 2024 was to compete in a tournament. I hadn't played in a competitive event since high school and I'm really proud of myself for sticking with it, practicing a ton and reaping the benefits of my game improving. Now ... I was also incredibly stressed by the preparation, so I think this year's goal will focus more on tracking my improvement, but not tying it to a tournament.

Our FTL finds crew is also back with goals and picks to kick off the year and let's just say we're easing into golf for 2025.

Cheers!

Abby

Where Will You Play?

FTL Volunteering

We're busy planning and preparing for our 2025 events, and would love your help! Check out our volunteering opportunities this year, and watch this video to see what's typically expected in this role.

Five Iron Golf Leagues

Join Team FTL at Five Iron Golf's leagues nationwide! This is a perfect opportunity to keep your game sharp in the off season and meet other golfers in your area. Our teams are super low key and include golfers of all levels. Plus, the league features drink specials and 9-holes of competitive (but very social) golf with rotating prizes, and courses.

Chelsea

I've only ever posted the total strokes per hole in my GHIN app. For 2025 I'd like to collect a few rounds with Advanced Stats with my GHIN App (i.e. total putts, greens in regulation, fairways hit). Then I'll be able to use the data to inform the biggest gaps and areas of improvement to my golf game. It's easy and overwhelming to say that all areas of my golf game needs improvement (LOL) but if I focus on one specific area then there could be an opportunity to see a massive spike of improvement! -chelsea

Despite the cold temperatures in NYC, I can still improve my golf game! Putting practice is located in the middle of my tiny hallway, and proper golf attire is not required.

Abby

My goal is fairly similar to Chelsea's! I use the GHIN App all golf season because I also like seeing all the different courses I play in a year (GHIN Rewind, baby!). Anyway, I'd also like to remember to collect Advanced Stats in 2025 for pretty much the same reason as Chelsea! It's interesting to see where most of the strokes add up and can help make my (limited) practice more purposeful. Nerdy, but I like it.

I also signed up for ballet classes this year, so I'm hoping to improve my balance in 2025. We'll see how that goes. -abby

Honestly, I'm not playing much if any golf currently. But I've been trying some golf workouts and these headbands make me feel v chic doing it.

My golf goal is back to basics: more rounds this year than last year! -sara

How cute is this golf toile note card set - everyone loves a hand written note!

Kristen

In 2025, my goal is to meet and play with more women at my club! I plan to ask my head pro for introductions, as well as be more outgoing when I see other gals on the range! -kristen

Where we want to play ...

Chelsea: I want to play golf in Maine. I'm dreaming about Cape Arundel!

Abby: I have my eye on Belvedere Golf Club in Charlevoix, MI. I've been driving by it for years when staying with my friends in Northern Michigan, but this will be my year to play it!

Kristen: I am very excited to explore Big Cedar Lodge this October with FTL. A new part of the country, luxe accommodations, golf with a great group… count me in!

Sara: I'm keeping my sights local to NYC: Stanwich and Maidstone have been on my bucket list for a while so we're going to make that happen in 2025.
